I know this community, and many of you are hurting right now. We have been awaiting this day for months, yet I think we all knew, no matter the grand jury’s decision, our collective sorrow would remain.
Regarding the grand jury decision, I am grateful for the patience of our community and the commitment to due process demonstrated by the investigators and grand jurors. This has been a long and arduous investigation and our community will have to reckon with this decision in the coming weeks, months, and even years. It is my continued hope that we will move forward by coming together, healing together, and working together.
My condolences remain with Mr. Walker’s family. It is my fervent hope that this community will embrace them and hold them close in the days to come.
